  7. Abhik Says:

Group No of questions Marks/question Marks/Group
    A a 1 a
    B b 2 2b
    C 100-a-b 3 3(100-a-b)

    Total marks = a+2b+3(100-a-b)= 300-2a-b ……(i)

Also as per given condition, a≥0.6(300-2a-b)
which turns the eqn to 11a≥900-3b ……(ii)

    Now for 1st problem b=23
    so using eqn(ii)
a≥75.5 which means a should be at least 76
    in that case c=1
a can’t be more than 76 because Group C should contain at least 1 question.so (a) is the right option
    for the 2nd problem,
using the condition, total marks in group C is 24
Total marks of all group together = a+2b+24
    a≥0.6(a+2b+24) ie a-3b≥36 …….(iii)

again using the condition of 2nd problem,

    2b≥0.2(a+2b+24) ie 8b-a≥24 ……(iv)
    adding (iii) & (iv)

    5b≥60 or b≥12 ….(v)
so b can be 12 or more
If you now analyse you will find out that only a=13 or 14 satisfies eqn (iii)or (iv).
    so(c) is the right option
