    Total number of employees in various years is as follows.
    1989-345
    1990-442
    1991-708
    1992-750
    1993-821
    1994-821
    Twice the total number of employees in 1989, i.e. twice of 345 to 690.
    As this number is closest to 708, the total number of employees reached approximately twice the total number of employees in 1989, in 1991.

    2.(a).
    In 1993, the factory had more number of employees in each department than it had in 1992.
    For all the other years, the number of employees has deceased for at least one department.

    3.(a).
    total number of employees all through the years 1989 to 1994 is 3,737.
    All through the year 1989 to 1994:
    Total number of employees in purchase department = 228.
    Total number of employees in sales department = 358.
    Total number of employees in accounts department = 564
    Total number of employees in research department = 437.
    Only purchase department has less than 9% of the total number of employees all through 1989 to 1994.
