Directions for next 3 logical reasoning questions: Answer the logical reasoning questions based on the following information.
Each digit, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9 is represented by a different letter A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H and I but not necessarily in this order. Further, each of A + B + C, C + D + E, E + F + G and G + H + I is equal to 13.
1. Find the value of E.
a. 5
b. 7
c. 4
d. Cannot be determined
2. What is the sum of C, E and G?
a. 7
b. 9
c. 11
d. Cannot be determined
3. How many different sum’s of A, D, F and I are possible?
a. 1
b. 2
c. 4
d. Cannot be determined

Explanation:-
A+B+C=13
C+D+E=13
E+F+G=13
G+H+1=13
A+B+C+D+E+F+G+H+I=45 (Thats sum of all digits)
So C+E+G=52-45=7
So C,E,G can be only in (1,2,4)
Now C+D+E=13
so C and E will be (1,4) or (2,4)
D can take (7,8)
So answer is 4 thats C for question 1.
So sum of C and E is either 5 or 6.
Now E+F+G=13
If E=4,F+G=9
So G can be (1,3,6,7,8) if C=2
and G can be (2,3,6,7,8) if C=1
So sum is maching with C=1,E=4 and G=2 that comes C+E+G=7
C=2,E=4 and G=1 that comes C+E+G=7
So answer is 7
Now C,E,G is fixed.
so B,H can take any value (3,5,6,9)
So the answer is 4.

I applied hit and trial method that can prove disastrous in cat
(1 3 9 will always form a group as pairing of 9 with any other no is nt possible, also c e g can nt be 9 and 8… )

The answer is,
e=4;
c+e+g=7;
Becoz,
a+b+c=c+d+e=e+f+g=g+h+i=13;
9+3+1=1+8+4=4+7+2=2+5+6;
therefore,e=4;c+e+g=7;
that’s all.

we have 7 combinations that’s r
1. 9+1+3=13
2. 8+1+4=13
3. 8+2+3=13
4. 7+1+5=13
5. 7+2+4=13
6. 6+2+5=13
7. 6+3+4=13
now we have to make possible 4 combination by which we get
1,2,5,6 and get the values of a,b,c,d,e,f,g,hand i are9,3,1,8,4,7,2,5 and 6 respectively, now we find e=4.
also c+g+i=7.
