    1) ‘was / is’ is used with singular object, here Cricket Council is a single body. So answer is AA ‘censure’ when used as verb means to criticize or reproach in a harsh or vehement manner whereas ‘censor’ is the act of editing a movie. Critics’ job is to criticize, so answer is B. ‘credible’ means worthy of belief where as ‘credulous’ means willing to believe, here the statement suggests the use of former one, so B ‘discreet’ means modestly is the only meaning, because the other option has spelling mistake. So A, Hence option is d.

    2) The sentence is in comparative degree, hence ‘further’ is used. Farther is used to refer
to length or distance. So A An event is always ‘historic’ and ‘historical’ is something
based on the Event. So B. ‘Mistrust’ suggests vague doubts. ‘Distrust’ is rather more
emphatic suggesting positive suspicions and even a complete lack of trust. So A.
‘true’ has a greater degree of seriousness than ‘real’, since the film is based on a story ,
it’s ‘true’. So B. ‘compliment’ means expression of praise , and ‘complement’ means
that which completes something , here it suggests the former one. So A

    3) ‘Regrettably’ means causing regret, ‘regretfully’ means full of regret. Hence B
Here quality can’t be ‘sensual’, ‘sensuous’ means perceived by senses which is appropriate. So B ‘besides’ means in-addition-to, where as ‘beside’ means next-to-next. So B. ‘stationary’ means static, where as ‘stationery’ means writing materials, as pens, pencils, paper, and envelopes. So A. ‘Over’ suggests that there is some connection at the sides assuming an arch shape/form (but not always) as in the bridge over the river.
‘Above’ suggests higher than something. Here Danger mark is a line so ‘above is used’.So B.

  9. Prakhar Agrawal Says:

The correct answer to question 1 is (3) BBBBA, and the explanation follows below.

The cricket council here is taken as plural because the sentence further goes on to describe the council as being ‘at sixes and sevens over new rules i.e., the members were divided (in disagreement with each other) over the new rules. Hence it should be ‘were’ and ‘are’. This is the primary “testing point” in this entire question.

Critics ‘censure’ or criticize. ‘To censor’ is to remove or prohibit after inspection or examination and hence does not apply. Censoring is done by Censor Board, and not critics.

The first three options are B B B.

An account of something or an explanation would be ‘credible’ i.e., believable. Credulous is used for a person who has or shows too great a readiness to believe things.

‘Discrete’ means distinct ‘, whereas ‘discreet’ means ‘cautious’ or tactful which is more appropriate is this context.

    Thus B B B B A is correct.
